Re-download EVERY book individually after replacing disk
So, I replaced my difficult drive. Very simple to practise, backup and restore using SuperDuper. Kindle app starts, shows me my library (every book Downloaded), but any book I try to read in my library, Kindle says "Preparing your book", followed by "The book could not be opened. Delight remove the book from your device and redownload it." Apart from information technology being an utter waste of time to re-download every book (ane by one), what if I had been somewhere with no internet service? And, "remove the book from your device and redownload". What an utterly STUPID program. I have to click and click and click and click to get it to do that? Whoever programmed information technology is only smart enough to display the message? If they know that they need to "remove the book from the library and re-download it", why doesn't the program only do information technology? (That is what is chosen a rhetorical question. The respond is: the program is stupid.) No wonder this app has two stars in the app store1
Wish It Had More than Features and Capabilities
I've been using this app for years now, but it's been a while since I've used it for leasurely reading. The past two years has establish me using it more than oft for grad school. If required books for my courses were available on Kindle and had corresponding page numbers, it was typically more than toll effective, easier to organize notes, and allowed me to hands read and have notes anywhere. I do wish at that place were some more features, particularly when it comes to exporting highlights and notes. I wish that, just as nosotros tin filter our highlights and notes in the app, we could do the same when exporting highlights and notes. For case, if I only wanted to export the highlights and notes that I starred rather than every highlight and notation, and so I could do and so by applying a filter. That manner I could export the notes I know I need and found to be highly applicable and of import to my work at the time, while nevertheless keeping the entirety of my highlights and notes on the app in the event that I need to consign all of them in the future. I besides wish that you could do more formatting with whatsoever notes that y'all take. I usually have to re-create and paste my exported highlights and notes into OneNote and so reformat eveything. It would be nice to at least put bullet points in the "notes" section.
Infuriating
I've used Kindle for years and I have always loved it. Nevertheless, using it on MacOS is frustrating. Seven months ago I purchased a book on Javascript and attempted to work my way through it. With no input from me whatever, the pages jumped frontward or backwards by 2-8 pages. I didn't click anything, I didn't hit any keys. And then I would have to go dorsum and notice the page I was on. Clicking to detect the page would too result in it going much farther than I intended it to. So so I'd have to go dorsum the other way. Then sometimes that would go too far. Then I'd get it right and halfway through the folio information technology would showtime doing it over again. Unfortunately, I forgot about that experience and, being busy with work, didn't take time for Kindle until recently. When I ordered another book, this time on Python, it was the aforementioned wretched experience. I gave up on information technology a few times, then came back because I already paid for the book and was determined to go through it. And then I'd give up again. It is infuriating to try to learn something while your app can't stay on the intended page and ii/3 of your learning fourth dimension is getting annoyed and fighting the program just to go on the folio. I hate to buy the books twice considering I patently can only do this with the hard copy now (with the added inconvenience of not having the reference on the screen side by side to what I'one thousand working on). I love Kindle and Audible and I hate to give it a bad review but on Mac, this app is garbage.
